Also on the farm we have 15 acres of flood-meadow which leads down to the River Derwent. We manage this grassland in accordance with a habitat scheme run by English Nature. Here you may be lucky enough to see otters or the pair of barn owls which hunt in the long grass. It is a great place for picnics, fishing or just walking the dog! It is possible to follow the river into Old Malton where there are two pubs or to follow the mosaic trail past the roman settlement in Orchard Fields to the busy market town of Malton
